How Santa’s Home Value Went Up 6.5% In A Year

You may remember last year we shared Zillow’s post on the value of Santa Claus’ North Pole home. Last Winter, Santa added his 3 – bedroom, 2 bath log home to Zillow with a ‘Zestimate’ of $656,957.  After updating his home facts and adding new photos – the Zestimate jumped up to $710,559 according to Zillow.

So what new home features does Santa’s house boast? The home was built in the 1800s but it has many modern amenities since a 2013 remodel but don’t worry – Santa’s house has that holiday cheer charm although out it’s 2,500 square feet.  Santa’s interior designer, Marian Bright, was interviewed back in November and she called the new look and feel of Santa’s Residence ‘Falalala Fabulous.’  Marion, along with general contractor Doug Fir added a floor to ceiling river rock fireplace, more windows and skylights and a new open concept design.

Also unique to Santa’s cozy cabin – it sits on a 25-acre lot and houses a state-of-the-art workshop (of course!) a large garage to store his infamous sleigh and stables for all nine of our favorite reindeer.  Doug Fir was quoted as saying the garage was the most challenging feature to convert because it started as a ‘rinky-dink one-sleight space.’

This year you can view not only the photos of Santa’s living quarters but also the individual homes in Elf Village. There are three dwellings to tour and in true winter snowflake spirit – no two are alike!

So you may be asking yourself… how on earth did Zillow even begin comparing Santa’s Residence to get an accurate Zestimate? To gather comparable information, Zillow looked at various remote locations on the coast of Alaska and as close to the North Pole as possible and by also adding a ‘Santa premium’ which is based on the Holiday’s popularity.

No matter how nice you have been this year, this home cannot be added to your Christmas list. Zillow does not have the home listed for sale. Looks like Santa isn’t quite ready to cash out on this investment. However, we recommend you view the virtual tour and newly added photos anyway to get in the Holiday spirit and find some Christmas inspiration!
